Maker Faire

During the 2014 White House Maker Faire, 100 ULC member libraries signed a letter to President Obama that would allow public libraries to host Makerspaces. Makerspace is a program that inspires people to create, make, and learn a new set of skills. Some parts of the program included 3D Printing, computer programing, laser cutting, self-publishing, and a whole list of other different skills. The whole idea of Makerspace is to inspire the next generation of STEM Leaders.

Makerspace in Brockton Public Library began about a year ago and their mission to inspire the next generation of leaders within the Brockton Community. Teenagers do weekly actives the are hands-on and learn new skills outside the classrooms. The actives help students learn about technology, and engineering. Makerspace is a good opportunity for the students of Brockton and will lead them on the path of a successful future.
